Call Before You Dig
North Central Missouri Electric Cooperative is a member of the Missouri One Call system. If you are in need of locating NCMEC's underground power lines, please call 1-800-DIG-RITE (1-800-344-7483). NCMEC will respond to your request within 48 hours during regular working days, not including weekends and holidays.
Avoid spending a day in the dark... It's as simple as 8-1-1. Whether it's a dreamed up deck addition or a landscaping masterpiece, summer weather is a great time for outdoor improvement plans to actually play out. But if your planned projects include digging, like planting a tree or bringing in a backhoe for trench work, you'll have to wait a few more days so the job can be done safely. Underground utilities, such as buried gas, water, and electric lines, can be a shovel thrust away from turning a summer project into a disaster.
Call 811 from anywhere in the country a few days prior to digging, and your call will be routed to your local One Call Center. Tell the operator where you're planning to dig, what type of work you will be doing and your affected local utilities companies will be notified about your intent to dig. In a few days, they'll send a locator to mark the approximate location of underground lines, pipes and cables, so you'll know what's below - and be able to dig safely.
Please note utilities employees (or their contractors) will mark the facilities that they own, usually up to the meter. A special request can be made during the call if utilities on the homeowner's side of the meter need to be marked as well. Remember, always call 811 before you start any digging project! You'll avoid injury, expense, embarrassment - and a very inconvenient day in the dark.
